45 minutes per kg plus 20 minutes for a turkey under 4.5kg
40 minutes per kg for a turkey between 4.5kg and 6.5kg
35 minutes per kg for a turkey of more than 6.5kg

My Mum was a fantastic cook, all her recipes were cooked with love and had been passed down through the family, and were simple but tasty.  She always bought a bird much bigger than we needed we ended up eating it for days afterwards.

This is Mum´s Christmas Roasted Turkey with Sage and Onion Stuffing,  its very simple and easy, technically the stuffing is not a stuffing but a sauce, its cooked separately with the juices from the Turkey.

Mum would serve this with  roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and sprouts.

The difference with me is that I use a thermometer, Mum would just use her instinct, and prod the thigh with a fork!  I have also allowed for some chipolatas, as us greedy lot love them, and a Spanish twist of some garlic and lemon.

You could prep all this the day before, and keep in the fridge, but be sure to get it all to room temperature before you place it in the oven.

The Turkey Must be at Room Temperature before you Start
I always use a fresh Turkey, but if you decide to buy frozen, then it must be thoroughly defrosed before you start, following the recommendations on the packaging.
